Damn, all this talk of Motown has reminded me of an excellent BBC documentary -
Motor City's Burning: Detroit from Motown to the Stooges.
It's an excellent trip from the early 60s, through the riots and the MC5 to the Stooges complete with a great soundtrack and it's worth seeing for the archive footage of the MC5 alone.
Sadly it's no longer available on the BBC iplayer and so I will have to look for a link and try and download it, if I manage I will post it. If anyone finds anything please let me know.
